THE REVOLUTION SPRING SYSTEM

Spink and Edgar mattresses are created around the unique Revolution pocket spring system, with an additional inner spring designed to adjust to any individual.

Soft on the outside, firm on the inside, the Revolution system responds to the variable pressure applied by different parts of your body. It provides superior comfort with un-rivalled support.

ADDING THE FILLINGS & TAPE EDGING

Our master mattress makers are each individually responsible for selecting and spreading the layers of fillings on either side of the spring unit.

Tape edging is the all-important process which seals up a mattress, once the springs, fillings and covering tick have all been piled on and the sidestitching completed.

With mattresses of Spink & Edgar quality, it requires the skills of a highly trained master mattress maker. 20lb in weight of fillings (as in some of our beds) are quite an impressive sight! Pulling all this together and ensuring the final product is straight and looks as neat as possible is no easy task.

SIDE STITCHING

Traditional hand side stitching is a highly skilled procedure, performed only by our best craftsmen. By stitching from the sides right through the fillings and springs to the top, the edge of the mattresses is sufficiently strengthened to keep its shape without the need for a metal frame, which can restrict the free movement of a pocket spring unit.

Depending on the model (and the mattress thickness), all Spink & Edgar mattresses have two, three or four rows of hand side stitching.

TUFTING

Every Spink & Edgar mattress is hand laced or tufted. A piece of twine is passed right through the mattress, from one side to another, drawing together the fillings and springs to create a near to horizontal surface. The process ensures the fillings do not move around or migrate into clumps. As a finishing touch, each tuft is topped off with an attractive, soft, Pure New Wool tuft.
